Catalogue homes are homes that can be selected from a catalogue. By its nature they have a high degree of pre-planning and their own degree of pre-fabrication. Contrary to the one off designed homes, they are systems design with many consumer options. Although they are the result of a design effort, the consumer influence prevents them from being published in the architectural journals. Catalogue homes are not for People Like Us, therefore no international style, rather what people really like: brick wall, pitched roofs in any regional style one can think of. They are mostly built in places with a high degree of private land ownership and little regulations.

Australia
A detached house on a block of land is everybody’s desire in Australia. Land is available, no governmental guidelines for the architectural design and as a young emigration culture there is no tradition in regional styles. Check out Buildhome, the quarterly journal for owner builders and dream away.
